TPI Certified Fitness Trainers
"I don't care what it looks like, I care that it's efficient"Greg Rose
Owner Tim Shevlin along with fitness trainer and yoga instructor Chelsey Matheson are certified through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), the number one organization in the world dedicated to understanding how the body functions with the swing of a golf club and how it can be improved.
What is TPI Certified?
TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) is the world’s leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing. Since its inception in 2003, TPI has studied thousands of golfers ranging from the top professional tour players to weekend enthusiasts. An incredible amount of data on players of all shapes, sizes, ages, and fitness levels has been gathered during this time. Using this data, TPI discovered how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, TPI has analyzed how physical limitations in a player’s body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury. TPI’s mission is to educate golfers and industry professionals on the body/swing connection through its one of a kind ‘TPI Certified’ educational program. This program was developed by founders Dr. Greg Rose and Dave Phillips along with a 52 member advisory staff of industry leading experts. Five unique fields of study are offered for TPI Certification: Golf, Medical, Fitness, Power and Junior Development.
What Does TPI Certified Mean?
TPI is the world leader in research and data collection about golf fitness, health and swing biomechanics. Being TPI Certified means that we are trained to find all of the strength and mobility issues that are holding you back from improving your golf game, and that we can collaborate with golf instructors because we speak the same language when it comes to your golf swing. We have worked hard to get this certification because we believe it gives you the best chance to improve your golf game and it complements what we already do as golf fitness professionals.
How do I know I can benefit from working with a TPI Certified Professional?
If you have tried other ways to improve your golf game with limited success, you've never met with a professional to try and improve your golf game and would like to be a better golfer, if you continue to have recurring injuries related to playing golf, or if you have existing conditions which cause pain or limit your mobility you will benefit from seeing a TPI Certified Professional.
What Can I Expect From My TPI Evaluation?
You can expect 45-60 minutes of evaluation that covers entire body’s ability to move and stabilize as it relates to your golf swing. You will perform 16 movements that the Titleist Performance Institute has deemed most important in regards to your golf swing. These movements will be carefully evaluated by your TPI Certified professional and recorded. From that you will gain a better understanding of where you need to focus your exercise to make the most gains toward a more efficient golf swing. After the evaluation, you can decide what training routine works best for you. You will get access to our exercise library which will give you a wealth of information related to your golf game, and you will be able to access your customized exercise program focused on your specific findings. You will also have the option on working 1 on 1 with our TPI Level 1 professional Chelsey or our TPI Level 2 professional trainer Tim.
